The Committee
Helping keep everything shipshape and running smoothly, here's an introduction our current committee.
The Muddy Boot Brigade...
Here are just a few of our members & "allotmenteers". While some members are on their plots almost daily, others are less frequent in their visits. We're a friendly bunch, though just as welcoming of those who like to keep themselves to themselves...
For those newer to growing, there are always plenty of folk around to offer advice (whether wanted or not!) and help.
And when you first get started, there are usually plenty of offers of spare seeds, seedlings & plants to help get you going.
For the more senior members or those with particular needs, feel free to approach the committee should any assistance be required. We are very much a supportive community, and there is usually someone who can provide some help if & when needed.

Our Wider Community...
We only exist with the support if our local community, and we like to "give back" to our community in various ways. Below are just a few of our key activities in and links with other groups in our community.

Fresh, home grown fruit and veg - free!
Throughout the growing season, we have a "produce table" at the front of the Big Shed, enabling allotment holders to make available excess produce to the wider community.
There is no charge for this produce which is freely available to all - we encourage those using it, however, to be mindful of others in the community and only take what they need, ensuring all can share the benefit. While completely free, we are always delighted to receive donations to the society funds, which enables us to continue to offer this much enjoyed service. |
Coffee, Chat, Company - and Cucumbers...
We are delighted to be able to support another vibrant community venture in our village - the Rogiet Community Junction cafe. Again, we provide a range of produce to the community cafe - both to use as fresh ingredients in their wonderful homemade cakes, treats & meals and also as another channel to offer to those villagers our excess produce, completely free.
You can find more about the Rogiet Community Cafe - when & where they meet, their events and fund-raising activities - at their website here. |
Growing kids, growing veg...With Rogiet Primary School being our neighbours, just across the "top" path, we continue to support the pupils with occasional support to their Eco Club, and providing the odd seeds, seedlings and general elbow grease to help them grow in their courtyard plots and wildlife area. |
Tiny Hands Make For the Muddiest Fingers...We are delighted to welcome our smallest allotmenteers - the wonderful children from our local nursery, Little Tigers.
The fierce bunch have a really productive allotment with us where they grow a really broad array of fruit, vegetables and flowers, having lots of fun and getting thoroughly muddy along the way... |
Graze As You Wander...Still very much a "work in progress", RALGS has begun our "edible hedgerow" project, with the aim of planting edible hedgerow around our site - and possibly elsewhere around our village!
Selecting suitable "edible" plants, bushes & trees, we hope over time that our villagers can freely pick from fruit & nut trees, such as apples, sloes, hazelnuts and even gooseberries, raspberries and more fresh from the hedges. |
